Maxence Lacroix had to leave the pitch before half-time in Chelsea's League Cup tie with Liverpool on Wednesday evening, according to L'Équipe and RMC Sport. RMC Sport says the defender was holding the back of his left thigh and reports concern for France.
According to L'Équipe, the injury comes a little over a week before Zinédine Zidane names his next squad. Foot Mercato calls it very bad news for Chelsea and for Les Bleus.
Lacroix has made 10 appearances (8 starts) this season and has 1 assist. Chelsea, 5th in the Premier League with 13 points, host Manchester United on 31 October at 12:30 (Casablanca time), after a 0-2 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur.
