At least 46 people died when two trains collided in Spain on 28 October, Hespress FR reports. It relies on Spanish media, who cite the civil protection service. A further 179 people were hurt.
Le Site Info had earlier put the toll at no fewer than 10 after two high-speed trains met near Urda. Hespress FR says rescuers are still at work.
The tragedy is not a sporting matter, but it touches Spain, home country of Xavi Grande, Marítimo's right-back.
