Elena Rybakina is out of the Tokyo WTA 500 without playing her quarter-final. According to L'Équipe, the Kazakhstan player pulled out on Friday because of a neck problem. She was due to face Leylah Fernandez.
She still appeared on court to thank the crowd, the newspaper says.
The withdrawal changes nothing in the standings: Rybakina is assured of finishing the season as world number one in the WTA rankings.
