World Cup 2030: Spanish candidate threatens to pull Spain out without the final

Alberto Nunez Feijoo, a candidate for prime minister, ties co-hosting with Morocco and Portugal to Spain getting the final.

Alberto Nunez Feijoo, who leads his party, plans to withdraw Spain's bid to co-host the 2030 World Cup if the country does not stage the final, according to L'Équipe and RMC Sport. He is described as the favourite to become the next prime minister.

The stance comes ahead of early general elections in Spain at the end of November. Spain co-host the tournament with Portugal and Morocco, RMC Sport reports.

RMC Sport adds that Madrid and Rabat both claim the final, which puts Morocco squarely in the middle of the dispute.
